Description
PS2 Methylene is an internal bluetooth adapter board utilizing the great Blueretro HW2 project. It is compatible with all controllers supported by Blueretro. There is no easier way to use modern controllers with retro consoles. Cleaning and repairing DualShock 2 controllers isn't necessary anymore!
This version integrates the ESP32 module pre-flashed with the specific version of Blueretro for Methylene. If you choose the option above "Soldering ...", we'll solder it on the Methylene board for you. Either way, you don’t need a programmer nor worry about learning how to program a factory fresh module.
Methylene for SLiM revision 0.7 design has been improved to allow the board to fit flat, with bigger holes on a more rigid board. Be careful not to apply too much tension, and don’t press too hard during installation. It's designed to flex, but not too much!
Additionally, pads were added for easily connecting an OLED screen (not included) to display the connected device and battery level (still a work in progress; currently, only the battery level for Dualshock 4 is available). It now uses an ESP32 with a wired antenna for a better signal.
New alternative points have been added for VCC right on the board. The wired controller detection circuit has also been optimized to enable detection of a wider range of controllers.
Features:
- Bluetooth pairing for modern controllers
- Internal installation no cut mod
- Port connection indicator LEDs (visible only for testing without case closed from the rear of the console)
- Wired controller connection detection (HW2), no more conflicts with wired controllers and internal Blueretro installation
- Remote console power-up via Bluetooth with a previously paired controller
- Remote console shutdown by button combination
- future updates with Methylene firmware using Blueretro.io via bluetooth
- Option: startup/reset/shutdown sound, add our buzzer above or salvage a small speaker from an old PC or other electronic device
Compatible with PS2 Slim models:
- SCPH700xx
- SCPH750xx
- SCPH770xx
- SCPH790xx (not recommended: need to cut the shell for one hole)
- SCPH900xx (not recommended: as the space under the motherboard is even more restricted than on the other models, the removal of the ESP32’s metal capsule improves this)
The installation process consists of soldering the board under the motherboard. If you’ve already soldered a modchip, this is easier.
You can check the installation guide here, and a great troubleshooting guide here.

By purchasing this board we assume you have read the full description and you know what you are buying.
This, like all pcbs sold at RingerKeys RetroModStore, cannot be returned due to the sensitive and fragile nature of printed circuit boards. If you have any questions about this or any of our products, please contact Dan from the menu below.
Special thanks to:
- Gusse for the PS2 HW2 project and allowing it to be sold here. And otherwise just being amazing!
- Darthcloud and the contributors for all the work done with all of the bluetooth adapters powered by Blueretro!
